Navagraha Japa Puja

Navagraha Japa Puja is a sacred Vedic ritual dedicated to the nine celestial planets, or Navagrahas: Surya (Sun), Chandra (Moon), Mangala (Mars), Budha (Mercury), Guru (Jupiter), Shukra (Venus), Shani (Saturn), Rahu (North Node), and Ketu (South Node). These planets are believed to significantly influence human life, destiny, and karmic patterns. When one or more planets are unfavorable in an individual’s horoscope, they can cause doshas (afflictions) leading to challenges in health, relationships, career, and overall well-being. The Navagraha Japa Puja is performed to pacify these planetary doshas, reduce their malefic effects, and enhance their positive influences.

Ritual Procedure:
Preparation:
The puja begins by creating a sanctified space, placing idols or yantras of the Navagrahas, and decorating the altar with flowers, lamps, and sacred items.

Invocation:
The priest invokes Lord Ganesha to remove obstacles and the Navagrahas to seek their blessings.

Mantra Japa:
Specific mantras for each planet, such as the Surya Beej Mantra (ॐ ह्रां ह्रीं ह्रौं सः सूर्याय नमः) and Chandra Beej Mantra (ॐ श्रां श्रीं श्रौं सः चन्द्राय नमः), are chanted 108 or 1008 times to energize the ritual.

Offerings:
Offerings such as flowers, grains, fruits, incense, and special items associated with each graha are presented.

Homa (Fire Ritual):
A sacred fire is lit, and ghee, herbs, and other items are offered while chanting Vedic hymns to invoke the blessings of the Navagrahas.

Abhishekam and Aarti:
Abhishekam (holy bath) is performed for the graha deities, followed by Aarti (waving of light).

Prasad Distribution:
The puja concludes with the distribution of prasad, symbolizing divine blessings.
